Royal Academy of Dance registered

Pre-Primary to adult classes

Leonard School of Dance was founded in 1981 by Helen Leonard.

The teachers, who have years of experience, are fully registered with the RAD and Leonard School has an excellent reputation for achieving outstanding results in Royal Academy of Dance ballet examinations.

Classes are held at St Giles’ and St Paul’s Church Halls in West Bridgford and also at Edwalton Church Hall, Edwalton. Children are accepted into the Leonard School from the age of three years upwards.

The Pre-Primary classes, for children from three to five years, are designed to stimulate children’s imagination, musical awareness and general co-ordination.

Whilst they are great fun, they are also excellent preparation for full-time education.

Following on from the Pre-Primary classes, the opportunity exists for students to progress through the RAD Grades, Higher Grades and Vocational Grades and talented students are encouraged to audition for associate classes and full-time vocational training. However, for the vast majority of students, ballet is a wonderful worthwhile hobby that provides them with grace, poise and confidence together with valuable life skills, which will remain with them for many years.

Periodically, students are invited to participate in the school show.

This, apart from being a tremendously positive experience, also provides an opportunity for students to dance on stage and experience the thrill of performing.

Adult Ballet Classes

Beginners and Advanced Adult Ballet Classes are also available and are popular with those wishing to maintain fitness, improve posture and strengthen core muscles as well as dancing to inspirational music in a friendly and encouraging atmosphere.

Helen and Michelle are wonderful teachers. I can’t recommend the school enough!
